Twelve blocks of glowing Broadway.

Originally Longacre Square — renamed in 1904 when The New York Times moved its headquarters into the brand-new Times Tower at One Times Square. The famous New Year's Eve ball drop has happened here since December 31, 1907.

The pedestrian plaza you photograph today only opened in 2009. Six minutes by bike from our front door. Best after dark.

A freight line, reborn as a park.

The 1934 West Side freight line, abandoned in 1980, reopened in 2009 as a 1.45-mile elevated park. Just north sits Hudson Yards — home to The Edge (1,131 ft, highest outdoor deck in the Western Hemisphere) and Heatherwick's floating Little Island.

Roebling's 1883 masterpiece, by bike.

At completion, the longest suspension bridge on Earth (1,595½ ft span). Built over 14 years, finished by daughter-in-law Emily Roebling after Washington was paralyzed by caisson disease.

Separated bike lane since 2021. Ride down 7th, cross the bridge, end the day in DUMBO.

Opened 1858 — the first landscaped public park in the United States. The famous 6.1-mile loop passes Strawberry Fields, Bethesda Terrace, Bow Bridge, and Belvedere Castle. Closed to cars year-round.
